Oscar Harry Lyons
Oscar Lyons, born in london, UK in 1994 is a visual artist who works across video, performance, text, documentory theatre and games. His work has either contributed to projects or exhibited by insitutions such as ‘Syhavn Theatres’, ‘Tårnby Park Studio’ , ‘Live Art Denmark’, ‘Charlotenborg Kunsthallen’, and ‘Thorvelsen Musuem’. He holds a BA from the Falmouth School of Art and an MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied at the School of Conceptual and Contextual Practices until 2025. Alongside Oscar’s personal practice, he is also a member of the artist-run space FUKK (Forenede Uafhængige Københavnske Kunstnere). As a self-described D.I.Y. art school, they have hosted a range of community workshops, cinema screenings, lectures, and performative parties, all dedicated to the idea of peer-learning through the exchange of skills and knowledge. Oscar’s personal practice (often in collaboration with others ) forms or gathers communities around production processes, like for example, the making of an amateur science fiction film in Cornwall, the construction of a pirate radio transmitter in a local park, or the formation of a community choir. In doing so, these projects merge elements of fiction and satire to co-produce dialogue that either detours or highlights, the ideologies and agencies behind our political imaginaries, revealing how they shape our ways of seeing, our behavior, and aesthetics. In other words how our sense of idenity is impacted by the ideologies implicated within material places, fictions, and branding.
